Mohammed Paracha joined Al Salam Bank-Bahrain in February 2006 as an Executive Vice President and is part of the Bank’s executive management. Mohammed formed part of the team that established the Bank and has been central to its development and successes both in terms of growth and market penetration. Mohammed relocated back to the United Kingdom in 2008 to take the post of Chief Executive of Al Salam Europe, the Bank’s subsidiary responsible for its European investments. Mohammed began his career as an English qualified solicitor with the international law firm Norton Rose where he was responsible for Islamic Finance. He worked both in London and Bahrain where he became responsible for the firm’s Islamic Finance business in the GCC.Over the years, Mohammed has been singled out as a leading industry player in the Islamic Finance sector by many publications and has been responsible for changes to laws to facilitate Islamic banking in jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, where Mohammed served as a member of the Bank of England Committee responsible for Islamic Finance. Mohammed has worked on many cutting-edge Islamically structured debt and equity transactions in variety of sectors including real estate, aviation, shipping, oil & gas, alternative energy, telecoms and emerging technologies. He regularly speaks at conferences and on a variety of media including television and radio and has received awards in recognition of his achievements. |
